Kanu: Harry Redknapp believes Kanu can be Portsmouth's super-sub this season. The experienced Nigerian hit-man is in talks with the South Coast side over a new deal which is to include a clause that secures a second season if he features in 20 games. Redknapp is confident the former Arsenal man would reach that mark. "He has still got a part to play, he can come on and turn a game," the Portsmouth manager said. "If you don't play 20 games you're not worth another year really, but he'll play 20, I'm sure."

Ewerthon: Bundesliga champions VfB Stuttgart said yesterday they would sign a loan agreement with Real Zaragoza today for Ewerthon. A VfB spokesman said Ewerthon, who played in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund from 2001 to 2005, was expected to join the club for their pre-season training in Austria today.

Gordon: Craig Gordon has said he will consider his Hearts future if the club receives a satisfactory offer for his services. Sunderland had a recent £5m bid turned down for the Scotland goalkeeper, with the Tynecastle side's valuation of Gordon in the region of £10m. "There's still a lot of time left in the transfer window so I might leave before the start of the season," Gordon was quoted as saying. "But I can't think about it much as I need to be ready for the new season."

Bellion: Attacker David Bellion will join Bordeaux in a two-million-euro transfer, his club Nice said. Bellion, 24, played with Manchester United and West Ham before going to the Cote d'Azur for the 2006-07 season.

Nedved: Inter president Massimo Moratti has told Gazzetta dello Sport that a move for Pavel Nedved before he renewed his Juventus contract was just "paper talk". He also laughed off suggestions that Inter have too many foreign players and said that retaining the championship next season was an "obligation" while winning the Champions League was a "duty".
