World Cup U-20: Chile crushed Nigeria 4-0 in the Under-20 World Cup on Sunday to set up a semi-final clash against holders Argentina, who defeated Mexico 1-0. All four of Chile's goals came in extra-time with Mauricio Isla on target twice after the game had finished goalless in regular time. Argentina had to fight hard in Ottawa against an excellent Mexico side but Maximiliano Moralez grabbed the winner for Argentina on the stroke of half-time with a drive which deflected in off Julio Cesar Dominguez.

Toni injured: Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni will be out of action for at least 10 days to recover from a torn tendon in his right knee, the club said yesterday.He will miss this Saturday's Ligacup match against Werder Bremen in Dusseldorf.

Birmingham: Birmingham City took a step closer to joining the growing number of foreign-owned Premier League clubs when Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung became the club's single largest shareholder yesterday. Yeung, 47, has acquired a 30 per cent stake in the midlands club for 15 million pounds ($30.58 million).

Forlan: Uruguay striker Diego Forlan will be unveiled by Atletico Madrid today after passing a medical with the Primera Liga side. The former Villarreal player has agreed a four-year deal with Atletico. The team are hoping to play in the UEFA Cup next season after qualifying for the Intertoto Cup.
