Matuzalem: Shakhtar Donetsk are intending to go to court to settle their dispute with midfielder Francelinho Matuzalem and Real Zaragoza, who have claimed they have signed the Brazilian on a three-year contract. Shakhtar said that Matuzalem and his agents have broken "the rules of fair play" by secretly leaving the Ukrainian club for Zaragoza and have asked FIFA to ban the midfielder. On Wednesday Zaragoza said they had agreed a three-year deal with Shakhtar for the player.

Pandiani: Osasuna have agreed a deal to sign Uruguayan striker Walter Pandiani from Espanyol on a three-year contract. The former Deportivo, Real Mallorca and Birmingham City forward, 31, was the top scorer in last season's UEFA Cup with 11 goals.

Historic win: The amateurs of Andorran club Santa Coloma stunned Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel with a 1-0 victory in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup yesterday. Juli Fernandez's goal from close range in the 56th minute against a disorganised Maccabi set up the famous victory for Santa Coloma, the first win for an Andorran team in a major European club competition.

London friendly: Ghana will meet west African rivals Senegal in a friendly at Millwall in London on August 21, the match organisers announced yesterday. Ghana are using the match as part of their build-up to the African Cup of Nations which they are hosting next January, while Senegal, currently top of their qualifying group, also expect to be in the finals.

Sommeil: French defender David Sommeil has joined Valenciennes from Sheffield United on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee. At 32, Sommeil is a well-travelled player who had stints with Saint-Lo, Caen, Rennes, Bordeaux and Marseille before crossing the Channel in January 2004 to play for Man. City and, last season, Sheffield United.

Odemwingie: Lokomotiv Moscow have signed Nigeria striker Peter Odemwingie on a four-year contract from French club Lille. Odemwingie, 25, who was born in Uzbekistan and has dual Nigerian and Russian citizenship, had been negotiating with Spartak Moscow before agreeing a deal with their rivals. According to French media reports, Lokomotiv have agreed to pay around 10.0 million euros for Odemwingie.
