Toure: Arsenal defender Kolo Toure was banned for three matches for violent conduct by the FA yesterday following a clash with Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer during Sunday's Premier League match at Highbury. In an incident missed by the referee but shown repeatedly on television, the Ivory Coast international appeared to bring his elbow down on Shearer's back.

Koloskov: Vyacheslav Koloskov, long-serving president of the Russian Football Union (RFU), could be forced to quit his post, Sports-Express reported yesterday. The newspaper said Koloskov was considering announcing his resignation at an RFU executive board meeting today. The 64-year-old has ruled Russian soccer since 1979.

Re-match: Dynamo Moscow plan an international tournament later this year to commemorate the 60th anniversary of their post-war trip to Britain. In 1945, Dynamo became the first Soviet team to tour Britain after the end of World War Two. They played four games, drawing 3-3 with Chelsea, beating Arsenal 4-3, crushing Cardiff 10-1 and drawing 2-2 with Rangers.

Montoya: Colombian soccer coach Luis Fernando Montoya, who turned little-known provincial club Once Caldas into South American champions, is in critical condition more than one month after being shot and left quadriplegic in a robbery. Doctors at the Medellin hospital where the 47-year-old is being treated said his condition had worsened after he developed a lung infection.

Argentina: Milan striker Hernan Crespo has been recalled by Argentina for their friendly international against Germany next month. Coach Jose Pekerman also named Spain-based midfielders Juan Roman Riquelme and Pablo Aimar in an all European-based 20-man squad announced yesterday for the game in Duesseldorf on February 9.
