Carol Galea, one of Malta's leading athletes, recently told St Elias College students that participating in sports makes everyone a real winner; you win health, skills, diet and friends.

Moreover, sports keeps you away from unhealthy behaviour, she added. Not everyone has to participate in competitive sports, in fact competitive sports is not for everyone.

Sports should be a relaxation-enhancing activity and not a stress-producing one.

As much as possible, youngsters should be helped to identify the sport that most suits them.

Galea then presented the student-athletes with trophies and certificates won during the College Sports Day. This year's Sports Day was held at Marsa.

There were notable results from Joseph Paul Zammit, 12, in the 1,500m; Mark Lia, 14, 100m and 200m; and Aaron Bezzina, 12, 3kg shot putt. In all, 78 trophies and 94 certificates of participation were distributed on this occasion.
