France's self-styled 'Spiderman', Alain Robert, has climbed a 152-metre-high (498 feet) building in the Paris business district of La Defense, without the aid of ropes and harness.

The 47-year-old took around one hour to scale the building, one of the taller ones in the La Defense area that houses many corporate headquarters on the western fringes of Paris.

Robert has also climbed the Canary Wharf building in London and the Petronas Towers in Indonesia, among many others.

In a ritual that has become familiar around the world, the married father of three was greeted at the top of the building by local police who carted him off for what has by now become the usual interrogation about his trespass.
