Six sessions of specialised health training in Malta will cater for 120 Maltese and international doctors every year, the Health Parliamentary Secretary said today.

Chris Fearne was speaking after a specialised training course in minimal invasive surgery was held for Maltese and Italian doctors at the University of Malta in the last two days.

The doctors carried out hands-on training in urology, where they specialised among areas in kidneys and prostate. The plan is to spread the specialisation training to other areas, like gynaecology and endoscopy.

Mr Fearne said this was an important step for the health sector in Malta.

"This centre is expected to draw to Malta professionals from around the world," he said.
