The funds of the Malta Tourism Authority will be increased by €3 million to €31 million to counter the persistent economic crisis.
Its budget was already increased by €3 million in the last Budget in view of the predicted difficult year for the tourism industry, largely due to its dependence on air travel.
Meanwhile, the rescue package of €2 million, which the tourism industry was allocated for this year, has also increased to €5 million.
The government will continue enhancing the country's accessibility by supporting various airlines, and introducing new routes to Malta.
On marketing, Mr Fenech said MTA would conduct "aggressive" campaigns in Malta's principal markets and consider campaigns in new markets such as the Middle East. Another proposal is a revamp of the authority's website visitmalta.com.
In addition, an extra €500,000 is being allocated to extend the scheme to incentivise sports organisations and the public sector to attract international conferences to Malta.
Moreover, the MTA will also extend another scheme to help hotels by financing half the expense to market their business.
