Mr Speaker Michael Frendo said this evening that he expected an apology from l-orizzont after it today editorially described him as 'the Nationalist Speaker'.

Dr Frendo said at the opening of this evening's sitting of the House of Representatives that the newspaper had commented on his brother, Prof Henry Frendo, who was described as 'the brother of Nationalist Speaker Michael Frendo'.

The Speaker said such journalists needed to educate themselves. He was proud to be the brother of Prof Frendo and he was also proud to have served as minister and to have formed part of the Nationalist Party.

But as Speaker he was always loyal to the demands of the Chair without partisan politics, and such a comment amounted to contempt to his Office and the whole House.

He said he expected an apology, without prejudice to further action.
