Speaker Anġlu Farrugia yesterday said he had spoken to both parties’ whips in Parliament and appealed to MPs’ good sense over their behaviour in the House.

In a ruling on the complaint submitted by Opposition MP Clyde Puli against Labour MP Joseph Farrugia, he said Mr Puli had not made a breach-of-privilege complaint but only asked for the Speaker’s protection, which had been given.

There were two versions on what had happened on the bridge linking the two buildings, when Mr Farrugia had made comments on the Opposition’s prolonging of the sitting by insisting on a 20-minute break between votes, but what he had said had had no influence on the proceedings, the Speaker said.
