Hamrun Spartans revival continued this afternoon as the Reds grabbed their second successive victory after edging neighbouring rivals Qormi 1-0 at the Tedesco Stadium yesterday.

The match turned out to be a hard-fought affair with Qormi dominating proceedings for much of the first half with their best chance falling into the path of Nigerian striker Aboubakar Bello Osagie who saw his firm drive hit the upright.

But after the interval the Spartans came back strongly and they managed to grab the all important goal on 76 minutes when Luke Grech sent a teasing ball into the area where Ryan Spiteri showed great coordination to control the ball and sent a fierce volley into the top corner.

The goal stunned Qormi who came close to an equaliser on 86 minutes when Gaetan Spiteri dashed into the area but was denied by an excellent tackle from Hamrun defender Roderick Fenech.

Hamrun midfielder Ryan Spiteri was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
