The particular sound of the clavichord will reverberate inside St Catherine of Italy church in Valletta during a recital dedicated to music by Spanish composers.

The programme, on Sunday at 11 a.m., will include works by Antonio Soler, Lys De Narvaez, Alonso Mudarra, Joseph Clausells and others, performed by Ramona Zammit Formosa.

There will be three clavichord replicas from different epochs and styles. These include a replica of an early Gemein clavichord of German or Flemish origin, built around 1620. The original is now in the collection at the Early Keyboard Museum in Edinburgh.

Those attending will have the opportunity to have a close look at the clavichords and, if they wish, even try them out and discover the instruments after the recital.
