Soroptimist International Malta this morning presented two Accuvein devices to Health Minister Godfrey Farrugia during an event at Mater Dei Hospital, held under the patronage of the Prime Minister's wife, Michelle Muscat.

Children undergoing treatment in hospital often require investigation and treatment that required venous access.

This could be very difficult and distressing especially in small children. The medical devices donated ‘light up’ the children’s veins and make it much easier for doctors and nurses to insert needles. These devices highlight the veins in a non invasive way, without causing any further distress or pain to the child.

One of the devices will be used in Disneyland, the other at NPICU.

Soroptimist International Malta also launched their international project called the 3E’s - educating, enabling and empowering.

Locally, Soroptomist opted for health, education and enabling more women in decision making positions. Soroptimist International Malta said that this is a three-year project, with health on top of the agenda.
