Allow me to raise some points I feel need to be highlighted.

Mikela Borg had a very good article on land reclamation (January 19). People with a conscience should reflect on its content. However, one asks: do speculators and soulless, money-drunk rich leeches, care?

In the same edition, the Times of Malta tells us that government scholarship applicants are “confused”. Are these applicants living in Malta? Do they follow the trend? Do they follow how direct orders are given? Do they follow how artists are chosen for given performances? Do they follow how works of art are purchased?

The same with choosing students for scholarships.

A report on the Malta Council for Science and Technology (January 26) said, among other things, that the chap running the place attends office once a week. For this he gets an annual remuneration of €60,000, that is €5,000 per month. Not bad, is it not? A few days later, this newspaper reported that the former Nationalist leader pledges to keep seeking justice (January 30).

Simon Busuttil was quoted saying he “respected” the court’s decision. I will stop here. If one really “respects” the court’s decision, I would think the case stops there.

Of course, I agree 100 per cent with Busuttil that he should continue seeking justice but he must be one of the very few who “respected” the court’s decision.
