The Training and Development Directorate trained around 8,000 participants in some 500 courses last year, the government’s Centre for Development, Research and Training (CDRT) said.
Courses included governance, strategy & policy development, leadership and strategic thinking, information management, sustainable development and planning, EU structures and processes, financial management and budgeting, project management and evaluation, analysis and use of evidence, human resources and general management, continuous personal development, equality as well as language training in conjunction with the various language institutes in Malta.
A number of management workshops were held featuring short sessions by a number of university lecturers.
A management course for aspiring and incumbent senior managers was also developed and rolled out. Some 50 senior managers were trained as mentors and change agents as part of the public service renewal strategy.
To date, 129 officers followed Master's degrees, 26 read for a Bachelor’s, another 138 were sponsored for a diploma and 28 opted for a certificates.
A total 330 participants attended short international workshops or seminars in various areas attending 106 events.
