A Somali national was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of immigrant Mohammed Haji Abdilwahid on Friday evening.

Abdulnasir Mohammed Abdullahi, 23, who has no fixed address was also charged with seriously injuring the man.

Mr Abdilwahid is in a critical condition at Mater Dei after he was stabbed in a garden behind the Marsa police station, to where he managed to drag himself before he was found.

Sources close to case said the incident happened because the accused could not stand the victim anymore having been harassed for a while.
