Two hunters were yesterday arrested after they were found in possession of illegally-sized shotgun ammunition lead-shot and a bird-caller.

The two were apprehended at St Thomas Bay by soldiers of the Armed Forces maritime squadron as they were handling their boat on a slipway.

The soldiers were in the area conducting illegal hunting patrols when the two men - a 21-year-old from Gudja and a 54-year-old from Żejtun - were caught.

Police are investigating.
