The Society for Scale Modellers recently held a party for sponsors, the media and past members at its premises in Blata l-Bajda to commemorate its 30th anniversary.

Society president Aldo Chetcuti explained how the perception of modelling had evolved to one of respect for this form of art, thanks to the efforts of the local modelling community.

He also mentioned how the society evolved over the years with scale model exhibitions held in various localities, and in recent years at the Aviation Museum at Ta’ Qali.

He appealed to members to continue encouraging younger modellers to take interest in modelling.

Absent members were remembered and past president Louis Carabott was awarded honorary membership, while long-serving society secretary Joseph Farrugia received the Founder’s Award.
