Promising athletes

In the wake of the announcement of Malta International Airport's new sponsorship policy regarding sport, the Malta Sport Council is inviting all affiliated national sports associations to nominate the most promising athletes to benefit from the MIA Youth Development Sport Policy.

The aim of the policy, an initiative that MIA has taken with the MSC, is to invest in young athletes who have the potential to excel in various sport disciplines. An evaluation committee was set up jointly between MIA and the MSC and has set the criteria and obligations on which athletes may now be nominated. The committee will then scrutinise the recommendations and will finally approve the beneficiaries of the programme.

The MIA Youth Development Sport Policy will focus on the most talented athletes or teams within two age categories - the junior level for athletes aged 8 to 14 and the youth level up to the age of 21. It will provide assistance to athletes to develop their skills further with an emphasis on training camps abroad.
