He leaves to mourn his great loss his devout wife Vivienne née Lauri, his children Mariolina, Hilary, Gaby and Joanna Black née Galea-Lauri and her husband James, his beloved grandchildren Victoria Pamela and Anthony Michael. Journalists AGM

The annual general meeting of the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM) will be held on January 30 at 7.30 p.m. at The Press Club, 104a, Old Mint Street, Valletta. Course On Wine Tasting Techniques

The Foundation for International Studies will be running a course on wine tasting techniques.

The course will enable participants to carry out a methodical evaluation of wines and to improve their knowledge of viticulture and oenology.

Malta-grown wines will serve as the point of reference, enabling students to compare an array of wines of origin from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the Americas.

The course will be spread over five consecutive Saturday mornings, with each session lasting three hours, starting on  March 4. There will be an optional examination on April 8. Sessions will be held at the FIS, St Paul Street, Valletta. The course coordinator will be wine expert Georges Meekers, regional director of the Mediterranean Campus of The European Wine Academy and author of The Definitive Guide to The Wines of Malta.

The course fee is Lm45 and covers 15 hours tuition and documentation and a minimum of 30 wine samples to be tasted and examined.

The administrative fee for the issuing of the optional certificate of successful completion will be Lm10. Holders of Kartanzjan and bona fide students will be offered a reduction of 20 per cent.
