BINGLEY - JAMES LEWIS, of Valley Road, Msida, died suddenly in the UK on Wednesday, January 3, aged 67. Beloved husband of Doris, loving father and father-in-law of Lewis and Bridget, David and Riki, Claire and Charlie and adored grandfather of Alex, Megan, William and Zoë. Greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Funeral service to take place in Woking, UK, on Thursday, January 11. Memorial service to be held in Malta at a later date.

CRITIEN. On January 6, at his residence in London, Lt. Col. ANTHONY passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss Jane, his sons Godfrey, Alexander, Jeremy and their mother Sally, his sister Phillippa and her husband John Roberts, his brothers Michael and his wife Jill, Peter and his wife Sue, nephews and nieces, his uncles and aunts, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.

DARMANIN. On January 7, at Zejtun home, FRANCIS, widower of Carolina, born in Senglea and lived in Paola, aged 96, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of the Holy Church.
He leaves to mourn his loss his children Lawrence and his wife Giovanna, Gracie and her husband Victor Calleja, Carmen and her husband Frederick Fearne, Mary and her husband Aldo Muscat, Josephine and her husband Joe Chetcuti, Lucia and her husband Charles Gilson, Franky and his wife Wendy, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves the Zejtun home tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Paola parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
No flowers by request, but donations to Dar tal-Providenza would be appreciated.

MICALLEF. On January 6, CHRISTOPHER, aged 37, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his beloved wife Gina, his son Andrew, his parents Tony and Jane, and his only sister Ingrid, in-laws, relatives and friends, among them the Fgura Scouts Group and MCAST staff.
The funeral Mass will be said today at 8.30 a.m. at Christ the King parish church, Paola. Donations to the Hospice Movement will be greatly appreciated.

SCHEMBRI. On January 6, LOUIS, aged 55, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Mother Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved Brigitte, their son Marc, his brothers and sister John, Alex, Paul and Louise, together with their spouses, children and his friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at the chapel of the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Today being the seventh anniversary of the death of Chev. JOE RUNZA, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated at 6.45 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel parish church, Paceville.

Tomorrow the fifth anniversary of the passing away of JOAN ANTIDA SCICLUNA, tomorrow's 6.30 a.m. Mass at the Poor Clares monastery, St Julians, will be offered for the repose of her soul.

Nursing Aide Course

Gearing up to the euro

A seminar for businesses tackling the changeover to the euro will be held by the Bank of Valletta, the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise and the National Euro Changeover Committee at the Malta Hilton, in St Julians, on January 18 at 5.30 p.m.

The seminar, entitled Business Gearing Up The Euro, aims to raise awareness and provide assistance to the local business community in preparing for the euro conversion.

It will bring together specialists from the NECC, the Central Bank of Malta, Bank of Valletta plc and Valletta Fund Management, who will be giving hands-on experience in dealing with the preparation for this national project.

Topics covered will include the highlights and milestones of the euro changeover, the recently-launched FAIR initiative for retail organisation, dual display, organisational preparations and portfolio management.

Prayer meetings

The MIR peace group will hold two prayer meetings this month.

The first will be for under 30s at the church of the Franciscan Sisters, Hriereb Street, Msida, tomorrow between 6.45 and 9.45 p.m. and the second will be for families at Marija Regina Church, Marsa, on January 14 between 7 and 9.45 p.m.

The prayer meetings consist of the holy rosary, Mass and adoration during which prayers for conversions will be said.
