Obituary

AZZOPARDI. On January 30, MARIA of Ta' Xbiex, widow of Andrew, aged 82, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joseph, John and Mary, Mary Anne and Augusto, Margot and Richard Mallia, Adrian and Tanya, her grandchildren Simon and Charlotte, Keith and Marianne, Stephen and Amy, Paul, Christina and Andrew, her great-grandchildren Cameron and Kaithlin, her in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St John of the Cross parish church, Ta' Xbiex, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the family chapel at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

BORG MERCIECA. On February 2, VIRGINIA (Gina) of Ta' Xbiex, widow of Silvio and Josie, at the venerable age of 98, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her children Hugh and his wife Patricia, Mona, widow of her son Vincent, her grandchildren Martin and his wife Caroline, Rachel and her husband Mark Gregory, Michelle and her husband Ivan Refalo, and Mark, her great-grandchildren Roberto, Francesca, Miguel, Nicholas, Marcus, Emilie, John and Georgina.
The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, today at 10 a.m. for St John of the Cross parish church, Ta' Xbiex, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

Cat shows

Two cat shows will be held at the Topaz Hotel, in Bugibba, today with pet cats being displayed in an informal pet cat show followed by a seminar on cat care at 4.30 p.m.

An international cat show will held tomorrow between 9.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Over 60 cats from various breeds will be judged by two Swiss experts from Fife. Awards will be given out at about 4 p.m.
