The government of Singapore is offering a scholarship for a short course entitled "Water and wastewater management" under the auspices of the Small Island Developing States Technical Cooperation Programme, between August 11 and 22.

Lenten talks

Lenten talks will be held at St Patrick's Church, Sliema, from Monday, March 31 to Friday, April 4, every evening at 7 p.m. The talks will be delivered by a Salesian Father from Ireland.

'Basis of medicine'

The University of Malta's Gozo Centre is to hold a short course entitled "Basis of medicine".

The aim is to provide a basic understanding of the fundamental aspects of modern medicine. The course will cover various issues including, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hereditary disease, Aids, cloning and DNA.

The course will be spread over seven weekends, starting on May 2. There will be one session every Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The registration fee is Lm10.

Basic course in restoration

The Malta Centre for Restoration will be holding a basic course in conservation and restoration.

The 86-hour course will be held on Saturdays between March 29 and July 12, and will comprise both theory and practical sessions.

The preparatory course, which is open to a maximum of 40 students, may be taken on its own as well as in preparation for the entrance exam held regularly for the admission of students for the Bachelor in Conservation Studies degree course.

The fee for the preparatory course is Lm30 for students and Lm60 for non-students.
