The Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) recently held an investiture ceremony during Mass at St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta.

The event started with a procession leading to the Oratory, where Mgr John Dimech, conventual chaplain grand cross ad honorem, blessed the insignia and celebrated Mass. Canon John Azzopardi and Fr Savio Vella concelebrated. After the sermon, the president of the Maltese association, Dr Alfred Caruana Galizia, conferred the insignia on new members with the assistance of the chancellor, Marquis Nickolas de Piro. The new admissions are: Anthony Critien, Carmel Lino Cutajar, Chris Galea, Alfred Mangion, Peter Sant Manduca, Mary Ann Pace, Josef Formosa Gauci and Baroncino Trapani Galea Feriol.

Prof. Guido De Marco, President Emeritus, and Frà John E. Critien also participated. A small reception in honour of the newly invested was held at Casa Lanfreducci, the association's headquarters, on Victory Square, Valletta.
