The first case took place at Ruzar briffa Street, Mosta at about 7.40 p.m. when a hooded man walked into a stationery, demanded cash, and ran off with €200.

Shortly after, at 8.20 p.m., the police were informed of a similar hold-up at a confectionery in Church, Street, Paola, where a hooded man escaped with less than €100 in cash. A motorcycle thought to have been used by the thief was found near by.
