Sliema Wanderers bagged their second successive victory when they overcome the challenge of Qormi 3-1 at the Hibs Stadium.

After a drab opening half-hour, it was the Wanderers wh struck twice in the space of two minutes.

The clock marked 31 minutes when Mattias Muchardi picked John Mintoff on the right channel and the Malta winger released Pape Gueye who burst into the area and quickly squared the ball towards Trevor Cilia who beat Sultana from close in.

Qormi were still coming to terms with that blow when Sliema struck again two minutes later. Gueye was again the protagonist as the Senegalese striker dispossessed defender Marco Petrassi and sped into the area, rounded Sultana before depositing the ball into an empty net.

Qormi did manage to score on the stroke of half-time when Luigi Del Giudice showed great footwork to turn past Mintoff and plant the ball past Bonello.

However, Sliema finally applied the coup de grace 12 minutes from time when Gueye powered his way into the area before squaring the ball toward the rushing Alex Muscat who stabbed the ball home.

Sliema finished the match with ten men when Scerri was shown a straight red card after passing disparaging comments towards Vella.

Numerical parity was restored in time added on when Duncan Pisani was shown a straight red card for dissent.
