The Sliema Residents Association has been revived to fend off the "unending pressures" on the town's environment.

The association has been dormant for a number of years, since the emergence of local councils, which many had thought would take on the role.

Now residents are arguing that more needs to be said and done and the association plans to work with the council to safeguard and improve Sliema's environment.

A provisional committee was nominated last May and the association's first annual general meeting will be held on Thursday at the Salesian's Oratory in Karm Galea Street, Sliema.

The meeting will offer residents the opportunity to voice their concerns.
