Charles Triganza, a former Sliema ASC and national team waterpolo player, passed away yesterday, aged 73.

'In-Najsu', as Triganza was affectionately known, was widely regarded as a Sliema ASC stalwart, his career with the Blues spanning 18 years.

Triganza made his senior league debut for Sliema in 1954, helping the team win the double for the second year in a row. He continued playing for the club until 1971 when he retired as captain of the Sliema team that captured the knock-out.

During his career, Triganza won four league titles and three cups. Between 1956 and 1969, Triganza was also a regular with the national team.

Triganza also played football for Sliema Wanderers' youth teams.

His funeral will take place at the San Gwann Parish Church at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
