The inquiry into how a young boy walked out of a Skolasajf centre in a Fgura school and ended up in a busy street last August was another instance where Education Minister Evarist Bartolo was shirking responsibility and passing the buck.

The inquiry, held at the request of the Education Ministry, blamed the lack of training of the SkolaSajf coordinator, an 18-year-old playworker responsible for the class and a 16-year-old assistant playworker in the same class.

The inquiry also found inadequate precautions in the school, where gates were kept open all the time.

Education spokesman Joe Cassar said the Nationalist Party expected Minister Bartolo to reply to the fact that a number of inexperienced personnel, some of whom were not yet 18 had been employed/

Dr Cassar said it was the same minister, who, in July, said that playworkers employeed to work at Klabb 3-16/Skola Sajf were state, church or independent school employees so they would have been previously approved by the directorate.
