Skoda is enjoying an excellent reputation in Britain, according to a big survey.
Britain's Top Gear Magazine, which is closely associated with the BBC's highly popular Top Gear TV programme, asked 76,000 drivers to rate 159 cars on reliability, driving experience, dealer service and cost. Only three European cars appeared in the top 10 - and they were all Skoda. The Superb came fourth, the Octavia fifth and the Fabia ninth. All the others were Japanese.
Skoda Auto has been a subsidiary of Volkswagen since 1994 but the cars are made in the Czech Republic.
In the past, the marque has not had such a good image in Britain.
