There are 60 irregular immigrants in prison, 37 who were former inmates from the Ħal Far detention centre, 16 from the Marsa open centre and seven from the Safi detention centre.

Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici said in Parliament that there were 158 foreigners behind bars. Of these 85 were of no fixed address when they committed their crime.

Twenty-one inmates hailed from St Paul’s Bay, 10 from Sliema, nine from Buġibba and eight from Qawra.

The minister was answering Nationalist MP Ċensu Galea.
