Six men who were involved in incidents during the feast of Żabbar in September 2004 were yesterday each handed down a suspended jail term and fined. They admitted the charges, the police said.

Three of the accused, Mighel Azzopardi, Jurgen Cassar and John Cassar were each given an 18-month jail term suspended for three years and fined €465.87 (Lm200).

John Pisani and Ivan Borg were also given an 18-month jail term suspended for three years but were fined €528.34 (Lm250).

John Sciberras got a two-year jail term suspended for four years and fined €698.81 (Lm300). In all, 30 people were arraigned over these incidents.

Evidence is being compiled against 12 of them while the rest have already been sentenced.
