In line with the downward trend across most international stock markets, the MSE Share Index closed this shortened week 0.7% lower at 3,358.969 points despite the marginal recovery recorded during this morning’s session on the Borza. The local equity market has closed lower in each of the past six weeks

Only two equities were active during today’s session as investors continued to focus on the bond market. Bank of Valletta plc touched yet another 2010 low of €3.029 before recovering to the €3.049 level – minimally below the previous closing price. GO plc also recovered from an intraday low of €1.85 to close at the €1.93 level, representing a 1.6% increase. Trading activity in these two equities remained weak.

Meanwhile, on the bond market, over €200,000 (nominal) of the recently listed 6.6% Eden Finance plc Bonds traded for the first time. The Bonds were exchanged at the par level. Meanwhile a further €200,000 (nominal) 5.35% Izola Bank plc Secured Notes 2015 were also exchanged at par today.
