Six young people were caught in possession of drugs at roadblocks, mounted by the army on the outskirts of Rabat over the weekend.

Two people in their 20s from Marsascala were caught after soldiers saw their car slowing down as it approached the roadblock and objects being discarded from the windows. The items were later found to be cocaine sachets, the AFM said.

Another two men, aged 19 and 27, from Birżebbuġa, were seen hiding something under their seats. A search of their car yielded three sachets, one of them partially filled with suspected drugs and an empty one. Finally, two individuals in their early 20s from Għaxaq were caught with ecstasy pills after they were noticed acting suspiciously.

All six were handed over to the police.
