Six young people were arrested after being found in possession of drugs during two separate operations on Friday.

Five people - hailing from Safi, Sliema, St Paul's Bay and Rabat and aged between 16 and 20 - were arrested during a raid on an activity held close to the Junior College in Msida. They were found to be in possession of cannabis resin and two of them will also be charged with drug trafficking, the police said.

The sixth arrest, involving a 23-year-old man from Mqabba, was made in Żurrieq.

The man was found with a stash of cannabis resin ready to be sold. Drugs were found in his car and home, along with a substantial amount of cash, according to the police. Duty Magistrate Anthony Vella is holding an inquiry and has appointed experts to help him with the case.

The six people are being held under arrest while police investigate.
