Six young people were arrested after the police discovered almost five kilogrammes of cannabis resin in a garage in Birkirkara.

The six - three brothers, two men and one woman - were arrested on Wednesday evening after days of surveillance, the police said. Their ages range between 17 and 25.

Justice Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici congratulated the police for the substantial haul and the spirit of sacrifice they demonstrated in the surveillance operation that led to the arrests. This spirit, Dr Mifsud Bonnici said, led to the record drug hauls made last year.
