A site that would be ideal for the needs of the Gozo SPCA was identified during a meeting between Gozo SPCA officials and Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono today and a meeting to discuss the way forward with the planning authority is being held on Monday.

The SPCA said in a statement that today’s meeting with the minister and other ministry officials was very positive and constructive and followed other meetings held over the months.

Gozo SPCA thanked the minister and her ministry for their assistance over the years, including through the loan of an employee to work full time as the SPCA’s animal welfare officer since November 2002.

The ministry had also assisted in the maintenance and refurbishment of Gozo SPCA's current centre, which is owned by the government.
