The community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Gozo commemorated benefactor Maria Olimpia Bondi, who passed away last year.

Through Ms Bondi's generosity, it was possible to open a house for the Salesian Sisters in Gozo more than 40 years ago, followed by the opening of the Laura Vicuna primary and kindergarten school in Għasri, which is run by the Church.

The sisters also help in the ministry of catechesis for children. They are actively involved in the education of youngsters.

Gozo Bishop Mario Grech celebrated Mass and blessed a commemorative plaque at the house bequeathed by Ms Bondi to the Salesian Community in Republic Street, Victoria.

Students, parents, past pupils and other members of the community attended.
