Please allow me to add a little to what Joyce Mallia wrote in her recent letter A Fine Hospital Building.

Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, which was built just before World War II and was then known as the KGV, has served both the Merchant Navy and the Maltese very well.

It is indeed a pity that it is going to be closed down and transformed into a hotel. Like many others, I am saddened that it is going to be wound up and lose its present set-up.

This fine building, which is named after Sir Paul Boffa - one of Malta's illustrious Prime Ministers - is easily accessible from various parts of Malta and easily reached by Gozitans.

Nobody seems to know who decided to have it turned into a hotel.

May I say well done to the medical specialists, doctors and the dedicated nurses and allied staff who have been serving us Maltese along the years.

To those at Sir Paul Boffa, may the Lord bless you all.
