Nationalist MEP Simon Busuttil said this morning that he was proud to be writing the PN electoral programme, in the same way as he had written the party’s electoral programme for the 2008 general election.

Speaking on TVAM, Dr Busuttil said the government’s priorities were built around job creation, education and health, and the electoral programme would be another leap forward, brimming with ideas and energy which would be revealed once the general election was called.

He stressed that the people knew where they stood with the PN because it was in government and could show results, while the PL was an unknown.

Replying to other questions, Dr Busuttil said that that since Franco Debono was still a member of the PN parliamentary group, he was expected to back the forthcoming Budget. So too was Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando once he had said he would back the PN programme.

On the election for the deputy leadership, which he will contest with Finance Minister Tonio Fenech, Dr Busutil said the question which PN councillors should ask themselves was who was best able to help the PN win the forthcoming election.

He said his attention over the past days was focused on helping Tonio Borg win approval to become European Commissioner, but he still intended to meet all the party councillors to discuss any questions they might have.
