A Sicilian serial thief was today jailed for three-and-a-half years after he yesterday pleaded guilty to 10 counts of theft in two months.

Gianluca Torres, 40, was accused of stealing a number of items, including bags, between September and November in various places across the island.

Last year he raided the donation box of the Millennium chapel, in Paceville, saying he needed the money to buy a cot for his baby.
