A Sicilian company, Levriero Lines, is to operate a coach service between Palermo and Malta, Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech has announced.

"Our closest neighbour has just got closer.  The coach service that is being launched today will link Malta with the west coast of Sicily, particularly with the historic city of Palermo adding a new easy way of travel for Sicilians who want to visit Malta and vice versa,"   Dr Zammit Dimech said.

The service will operate five times a week, departing from Palermo with pick-up points in Caltanisetta, Enna, Catania and Pozzallo.  The drop off and pick up point in Malta is near the Sea Passenger Terminal at the Valletta Waterfront.

"Malta and Sicily are already well served by Air Malta and Virtù Ferries.  The Levriero Lines service will be adding a new dimension to this connection," added the minister.
