A Sicilian supermarket chain that evaded more than €4 million in VAT contributions used Malta for its scams, Italian media is reporting.

Conad Sicilia, which supplies the Scotts Supermarket chain, is being accused of using a warehouse in Modica to issue false invoices to non-existant companies with addresses in Malta.

The company is denying the allegations.
