A shot was fired but no one was injured during a hold-up on a lotto office in Sta Venera this morning.

The incident happened at about 11.30 at St Joseph High Road.

People on the scene said two hooded men armed with a shotgun had entered the small lotto office and demanded cash. An attendant and a client were inside at the time.

A warning shot was fired as one of the robbers demanded cash from the lotto receiver. The robbers then escaped with the cash.

They made their getaway in a light van.

The police said the haul was 'considerable'.

Unconfirmed reports said that some €4,000 were stolen.
