Two armed men shot their way into a confectionery in Paola last night and stole a wallet containing cash, the police said.

The incident happened in Church Street, Paola.

Initial investigations showed that the two hooded men fired a shot as the door of the shop, shattering the glass.

They then went in and stole a wallet.

Two men who had been inside the shop were slightly injured and given hospital treatment before being sent home.

Magistrate Edwina Grima is holding an inquiry.
