Coping with negative emotions
The University of Malta Gozo Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Psychology and the Ministry for Gozo, will be organising a short course, "Coping with Negative Emotions", which will provide a general idea of how different situations can stir various negative feelings and prove to be a source of unhappiness in our lives. Moreover, it offers guidelines on how to identify severe feelings, which need some form of help.
The course will deal with eight related topics: the experience of feeling down; the joy and sadness of having a baby; a psychological understanding of one's mood; beating moods with pills; parents and children: is it a stressful combination? Lifting unhappiness through play; turning 50; moods and creativity.
This course should be useful to people working in caring professions, students in health care, psychology and social work. Anyone wishing to know more about emotions to understand better oneself and other people.
The course starts on May 2 and will be spread over three weekends.
Basis of Medicine
The University of Malta Gozo Centre will be organising a short course on the "Basis of Medicine". It will provide a basic understanding of the fundamental aspects of modern medicine. The course will cover various issues including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hereditary disease, AIDS, cloning and DNA.
This course should be useful to anyone wishing to improve his or her understanding of disease processes, including ways of preventing disease. The course will be spread over seven weekends, starting on May 2.
