A 37-year-old shopkeeper suffered a knife wound early on Thursday when he resisted a burglar who entered his shop in Hamrun.

The police said the incident happened at about 3.15 am in Immaculate Conception Street.

The burglar entered the shop through a window and was surprised to find the owner inside. A struggle ensued and the owner was injured.

The thief made off with some cash.

Police investigations are underway.
