A man who allegedly shot at a woman and her son in Mosta earlier this month was yesterday granted bail once all the main witnesses had been heard.

Carmelo Camilleri, 57, is pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of Mary Galea, 48, and her son Clint, 22, by shooting at them from the rooftop of his apartment on August 8.

He allegedly flew into a rage over the fact that her other son, who had accidentally reversed his vehicle into his car, had not yet paid him for the damage.

Defence lawyer Edward Gatt told Magistrate Edwina Grima the Attorney General was not objecting to his client being granted bail. He said the victims were blowing the incident out of proportion. He added that the fact that the Attorney General did not object to bail being given was indicative.

The court took into consideration the fact that the accused would not be living in Mosta. The magistrate granted him bail against a personal guarantee of €10,000 and a deposit of €2,000. She also ordered him to keep away from his residence.
