It’s being hailed as one of the biggest metal events in Malta this year, and based on its amazing nine-band line-up alone, Shellshock Metal Fest deserves to be just that.
Nevertheless, there’s always pressure, given this is the first edition of the one-day event. The fact that it’s being staged at the Buskett Roadhouse is an important bonus and should go down well with the metal crowds, since a lot of Malta’s metal events are held at this venue.
Featuring a mixture of top local bands and a German headlining act, Shellshock Metal Fest will take place on Saturday.
The Maltese bands performing on the night include Putrified Disfigurement, Deluge of Sorrow, Thrashacre, Arachnid, Angelcrypt, Knockturn Alley, Loathe, Improbus Atrum and For the Godless, while Contradiction, a band that has toured alongside bands like Sacred Reich and Overkill, will headline.
The German thrash metal band has been active since 1989 and performed at various festivals, including Wacken Open Air, which is also a favourite with many Maltese metal-heads. Tickets for Shellshock Metal fest are €10 (before 4 p.m.) and €12 (after 4 p.m.).
Doors open at 3 p.m. and the first band will go on at 4 p.m.
Food and drink stalls will be available in the venue and there will be transport to all locations at the end of the event. For more information, look for the Shellshock Metal Fest page on Facebook.
