The number of accidents at the workplace fell by almost a third in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period last year.
The National Statistics Office said the Department of Social Security received 859 reports, 352 or 29.1 per cent less than last year.
Of these, 24.6 per cent took place in factories, followed by 18.3 per cent on construction sites and 11.1 per cent in shops or warehouses.
Only one fatality was reported in the quarter. Constable Dennis Sammut, 53, succumbed to a ruptured aorta and a fractured spine when his police car crashed into an oncoming truck in Naxxar as he was responding to a call.
